| A wide array of people participated in CNU Florida's
Third Annual Statewide Meeting including planners,
engineers, architects, community activists, professors,
students, and elected officials. |

| The first day focused on how the Charter is being
instilled within Florida. The climax of the evening
was a presentation by James
Howard Kunstler. |
 |
| The second day focused on transportation,
the important of regionalism in new urbanism, and
the new urbanism "backlash."Participants
held an open discussion on how to further new urbanism
and address impediments. Session facilitators are
in the process of assembling the comments. A white
paper on each of the subjects will be written. Please
comment on the session
topics and check back on updates to these subjects.

| The John
Nolen Medal for contributions to urbanism in
Florida was presented to the Miami School of Architecture,
and the Charles Barrett
Award for excellence in Architecture and Urban Design
was awarded to Scott Merrill. |
